The impulse is a product of force and time.

If a force ‘F’ acts on a body for time ‘t’ then impulse = F x t

As force is the rate of change of linear momentum, therefore

or F x t = m (v_{2}-v_{1})

i.e. Impulse = Change of linear momentum
